Ingredients
Method
- Start by slicing the Golden Delicious apple thinly.
- In a skillet, melt the butter over low heat. Add the brown sugar and stir until it begins to dissolve and form a caramel.
- Sprinkle in the cinnamon, then start layering the apple slices in the pan. Keep the heat low to prevent burning. You should hear a gentle sizzle as the apples begin to caramelize.
Prepare the Batter
- In a bowl, combine the finely ground oats with the wet ingredients: the egg, liquid egg whites, and cottage cheese.
- Add the vanilla extract and sweetener. Mix well until you have a smooth batter.
Assemble the Dessert
- Pour the batter evenly over the caramelized apples in the pan. Spread it out to cover the apples completely.
- Cover the pan and let it cook on low heat for about 25 to 30 minutes. Keep an eye on it to ensure the batter is setting and not burning.
- Once the batter feels set, it’s time to flip the dessert. This can be a bit tricky! Use a plate to carefully flip the dessert and then slide it back into the pan. Be gentle to avoid any sticking.
- Cook for an additional 5 minutes to brown the bottom.
- The caramelized apples should look golden and delicious, and the smell will be incredible.
